Serena’s heart nearly stopped when she saw Dorian surrounded by armed men. Blood stained his sleeve, and for one terrifying moment, she thought she was about to lose him forever.
“Dorian… are you okay?”
The men immediately lowered their heads.
“Boss, are you injured?”
Boss?
Serena froze. Who exactly was the man she had married?
But Dorian quickly brushed it off with a calm smile, inventing another excuse about a relative working for the powerful Kensington family. According to him, the guards simply mistook him for someone important because he drove one of their luxury cars.
Serena wanted to question him further… yet when she looked into his eyes, all she cared about was whether he was safe.
“I believe you,” she whispered softly. “As long as you’re not hurt.”
For a brief second, Dorian’s cold expression melted.
But the moment Serena left, his entire aura changed.
The gentle husband vanished.
In his place stood a ruthless king of the underworld.
“It seems the rats in this city still haven’t been fully exterminated,” Dorian said darkly. “Send a gift to the Sinclair family in my name. Make sure everyone understands one thing…”
“No one touches Serena.”
Back at the Sinclair Manor, Serena returned alone — only to be greeted by cruel laughter from her sister.
“Well, well… look who’s back by herself.”
Her sister smirked maliciously.
“Let me guess. Your crazy husband dumped you after just one day?”
But what she didn’t know was this:
The man she mocked as worthless was secretly powerful enough to make the entire city tremble.
And anyone who hurt Serena… was about to pay the price.
