“It was only a reward for protecting Mrs. Kensington,” Dorian explained calmly. “It’s not worth much money. But because it carries the Kensington family emblem… people treat it like a sacred relic.”
Serena frowned. “So it’s basically a souvenir?”
Dorian gave a small smile. “You know how powerful families work. Even a tiny object becomes untouchable once it bears the family crest.”
She narrowed her eyes at him.
“You better not be lying to me,” she warned softly. “I hate liars more than anything.”
“I would never lie to you.”
But elsewhere inside the estate, tension was already building.
Dorian confronted his mother after the incident.
“Why did you support Alice instead of Serena?” he demanded. “That ring came from me!”
Mrs. Kensington remained perfectly composed.
“If a woman wishes to stand beside the future head of this family, beauty alone is meaningless,” she said coldly. “Today, Serena was humiliated, accused, and punished… yet she didn’t cry. She didn’t betray you to save herself either.”

“She has more backbone than I expected.”
