The Alpha Queen Returns Episode 17

The Alpha Queen Returns – Episode 17

The western battlefield erupted when silver and crimson lines collided. Royal soldiers drove forward behind shields bright with moon runes, while rogue wolves struck in packs strengthened by Darkmoon’s corrupted energy. Steel, claws, and magic turned the night into a storm of noise.

At the center of it, Jessica and Killian finally faced one another. Darkmoon walked through the chaos without urgency, untouched by arrows and blades that vanished inside his shadow. He looked almost pleased to find the legendary Queen standing where he had predicted. “So you came,” he said.

Jessica raised Moonfang. “I came to end this war.”

His faint smile suggested they were discussing an old appointment. “You always did speak like a queen, even while pretending to be a healer.”

Their power exploded before either weapon moved. Golden light struck crimson darkness, and the ground between them shattered. The shockwave hurled nearby fighters across the field, royal and rogue alike. Moonfang rang as if struck by an invisible hammer, while the shadows around Killian hardened into the outline of a second blade.

Sarabeth dug her sword into the earth to remain standing. “Clear the center,” she shouted. “No one interferes. Support the flanks and leave them room!” Soldiers obeyed because instinct told them what training could not: entering that clash meant death.

Hours earlier, inside the fortified medical pavilion behind the royal camp, Caroline had gasped awake on a moonstone bed. The pavilion had been moved west under layers of royal wards because Jessica refused to leave her daughter unprotected in the capital. Jessica, still armored for battle, caught her hand before the healers could reach her.

“Caroline, look at me.” Jessica leaned close, trying to hide the fear beneath command. The dark veins along Caroline’s throat had begun to pulse silver at their edges.

Caroline’s unfocused eyes searched the room. Strange canvas walls, armed healers, and the distant march of soldiers deepened her confusion. “I saw her again—the silver wolf.” Her body arched as a burst of energy flared from her chest, flooding the pavilion with blinding light.

Healers stumbled back. Crystals shattered in their stands, and protective runes ignited across the walls. Instruments meant to measure ordinary shifting spun past their limits. One physician stared at the readings. “Her wolf is reacting to something beyond the camp.”

Sarabeth rushed in from the command tent. Jessica kept both hands over Caroline’s heart, feeding measured strands of golden energy into the violent pulse. “It’s trying to awaken,” she said, “but the poison and another force are pulling it in opposite directions.”

Caroline clutched her chest. “It hurts. Something keeps calling me.” The pull came from the west, repeating her name in a voice that felt older than language.

Jessica ordered the healers not to restrain her. “Breathe with me, sweetheart. You are here, and you are not alone.” Caroline followed her voice until the silver light dimmed, but the connection remained—stretching west toward Darkmoon’s fortress.

Now, on the battlefield, Killian stopped in the middle of their second exchange. His crimson eyes flickered with distant recognition, and satisfaction curved his mouth. The same pulse Jessica had felt beneath Caroline’s skin moved through the ground. “It has begun.”

Jessica swung Moonfang toward his throat. He caught the blade between bands of shadow. “What have you done to her?”

“Nothing yet. You sealed her wolf for too long, Queen. Now it is breaking free in the worst possible way.” Black energy spread from his raised hand and rolled across the sky like a living storm.

“Explain.” Jessica’s aura struck his, making the surrounding earth buckle.

“The Moon Wolf Bloodline does not awaken gently. It either yields to a master or destroys the host whose body cannot contain it.” Darkmoon watched doubt touch Jessica’s eyes. He had chosen his claim carefully, offering enough truth to make every denial dangerous. “Call me a liar if it helps you bear what comes next.”

Behind the royal lines, Caroline screamed as silver and black energy collided inside her. Her body lifted above the medical bed, held aloft by a force no healer could measure. The poison formed dark bands around each burst of moonlight, squeezing tighter whenever her wolf pushed outward. The physicians could no longer stabilize her pulse.

Sarabeth’s deputy ordered guards to hold her down, but Jessica’s instructions remained absolute. No one touched Caroline. The healers instead strengthened the runes and repeated the breathing rhythm her mother had taught her.

On the battlefield, Darkmoon lowered his voice. “Do you know why I want her? Caroline is not the key to your kingdom. She is the key to mine.”

Jessica tightened her grip on Moonfang. “There will be no kingdom left for you to rule.”

Darkmoon raised one hand toward the clouds. Portals tore open across the battlefield, spilling massive rogue beasts armored in bone and crimson flame. Royal formations broke beneath their weight, and the western flank began to collapse.

Sarabeth cut down a beast and shouted for the Queen. “The rogues are changing. The gate is feeding them power.”

Jessica saw the design at last. Darkmoon was not only attacking the packs; he was using battle, blood, and Caroline’s awakening to transform his entire army. Every death strengthened the field, and every transformed rogue fed more violence back into it. Her daughter stood at the center of a ritual spanning miles.

“If you touch so much as the edge of her soul,” Jessica told him, “I will erase you from existence.”

For the first time, Darkmoon’s smile faded. Then the clouds above him turned red, revealing a Blood Moon impossibly large against the night sky.

“Let the true ritual begin,” he whispered. Crimson symbols blazed beneath both armies, and the earth split open in jagged lines. The smell of blood rose from the cracks even where no one had fallen.

At the medical pavilion, every rune failed at once. Caroline’s eyes opened, filled entirely with liquid silver, while a second shadow rose behind her in the shape of an enormous wolf.

Her dormant power had finally awakened—but the presence sharing her body was ancient, furious, and far from alone. From the battlefield, Darkmoon felt it turn toward him and smiled.
