Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Episode 35
The instant the network marked Selene as a confirmed target, every core went silent. Then the entire grid responded at once.
Selene stood inside the fractured core space while layers of awareness opened around her. She no longer faced one system but many, stacked across distance and awakening in sequence.
“What is happening?” Governance answered that a multi-core response had begun. All connected nodes recognized the Anchor anomaly and were opening channels toward its source.
The space fractured outward. Each opening showed a different territory: frozen mountains, desert ruins, flooded forests, and cities built unknowingly over ancient seals.
Some cores regarded Selene with curiosity, others with hunger, and several carried corruption resembling Lucian’s work. Their combined attention pressed against her mind. Lyla helped construct boundaries from remembered scents, voices, and emotions, giving Selene a private room inside herself that no network channel could access. Without it, thousands of foreign impulses would have blurred her desires into a collective response before she recognized the loss.
Outside Blood Moon Manor, daylight darkened beneath unnatural clouds. Jackson stepped back from the ruined seal. Alexander understood the phenomenon was no longer local.
Ethel told Luke the reaction was spreading across every sealed territory. Selene had become the center of a network event capable of reshaping packs far beyond their borders.
Blood Moon guards watched silver lines appear across the sky like an enormous crest. Panic spread aboveground as wolves sensed unknown authorities waking beneath distant land. Human residents called the phenomenon lightning without thunder, unaware that old protections below their towns had begun communicating. Jackson ordered his pack to prevent evacuations from becoming stampedes, while Luke struggled to explain a crisis that challenged every accepted history of their territory.
Inside, Selene denied causing the reaction. Governance disagreed. Her choice to preserve self had created the new state every connected node was now attempting to evaluate.
An interface unfolded with dozens of lights, then hundreds, then thousands. Each displayed the same message: Anchor detected. Invisible threads tightened from every point toward Selene.
Lyla felt the connections trying to enter through blood, memory, and the mate bonds. She helped Selene close personal channels while leaving only the public network path open. The distinction mattered: communication could occur without surrendering intimacy. Alexander sensed the new boundary through their bond and withdrew voluntarily. Jackson’s wolf pushed once, then stopped when the barrier answered with Selene’s unmistakable refusal. That small obedience prevented both connections from becoming vulnerabilities the network could exploit.
“They are waking because of us,” Lyla said. Selene refused the guilt embedded in that fact. Lucian built the conditions; her survival had merely exposed them.
A familiar cold voice entered the network. Lucian appeared nowhere, yet his presence moved easily between nodes. “Now you see what Bloodwind truly guarded.”
Selene named him. He clarified her role with satisfaction. “You are not merely the trigger. You are the signal every core was built to recognize.”
When she stabilized Blood Moon, she broadcast an identity capable of rewriting governance. Dormant nodes detected the possibility of change and awakened to claim, copy, or destroy it. Lucian compared the reaction to wolves hearing an unknown Alpha enter their territory, but the analogy concealed his preparation. He had seeded corrupted commands across multiple cores, ensuring Selene’s signal would wake them aggressively rather than allowing gradual contact.
Outside, Jackson struck the barrier again while Alexander searched for a channel to Selene. The bond did not weaken; it expanded, carrying faint echoes of every node touching her.
Ethel feared she was connecting to all sealed cores simultaneously. If their demands overwhelmed her boundaries, the network could spread her consciousness too thin to return.
Luke looked toward the dark sky. Selene was becoming the center of a system-wide awakening, and Blood Moon’s defenses meant nothing against pressure arriving through buried infrastructure.
Inside, the network showed her multiple active cores. Some glowed clean silver, some had darkened under corruption, and one mirrored her pattern with every value reversed.
Selene felt the opposing presence look back. “There is another Anchor.” Governance rejected the conclusion and identified it instead as a Counter-Anchor entity.
