Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Episode 21
The moment Selene said, “I remember,” the world around her shattered. A silver shockwave erupted from her body, cracked the infirmary windows, and bowed the wooden walls outward. Even the air seemed to bend beneath the force of fifteen stolen years returning at once.
Jackson shouted her name, but his voice could not reach her. Selene stood only a few feet away, both eyes burning silver, yet her awareness had fallen into a place deeper than sleep. She was no longer fully inside the manor.
Memory surrounded her without fragments or merciful gaps. A battlefield burned beneath a blood-red moon. Wolves screamed through smoke, steel struck bone, and a woman held three-year-old Selene so tightly that the child could feel her heart pounding. Selene recognized her mother without knowing the woman’s name; love existed in the memory more clearly than any face.
A man’s voice rose above the chaos. “Selene, run!” She knew that voice now. It belonged to Ethel before grief aged him, fierce with love and terror as enemy wolves broke through Bloodwind’s defenses. His white battle uniform was dark with blood, and his wolf fought close to the surface while he tried to reach his family.
Pain followed—fire against her skin, a hand wrenching her from familiar arms, and darkness swallowing her mother’s scream. Adult Selene gasped inside the memory. “I was there.” Lyla trembled beside her. Yes.
“That cannot be my life.” The denial failed even as she spoke it. The ancient presence entered with the calm of stone beneath a storm. It is your life because it is what they stole from you.
Selene demanded its name. The consciousness paused, not a single wolf or person but a legacy woven through Bloodwind’s guarded line. I am what survived, it answered. I carried what your enemies could not erase.
Silver energy intensified around Selene’s body in the infirmary. Her dark hair lifted as though gravity had loosened, and runes flickered over her skin. Every recovered image fed power into an awakening she had never been trained to control.
Outside the room, chaos followed the shockwave. Jackson threw his aura across the corridor and ordered everyone away from Selene. Guards dropped to one knee beneath the command, but Alexander stepped forward through it. His Nightwind power met Jackson’s without aggression, forming a shield that kept the weakest wolves from being crushed between them.
“She’s destabilizing,” Alexander warned. Jackson blocked his path. “No one touches her.” For once, the hostility between them did not rise from jealousy alone. Both men were frightened that the next surge might destroy the woman at its center.
Ethel stood behind them, pale and motionless. Through the blood connection, he saw echoes of the same burning night: his daughter carried through flames while he fought to reach her. He remembered killing the wolf who blocked the nursery door and arriving seconds after the kidnappers vanished. “She is remembering everything,” he whispered.
Luke asked what that meant, but Ethel could not answer without admitting the scale of Blood Moon’s crime. The servant they had ordered about since childhood was reliving an Alpha heir’s abduction inside the territory that concealed it.
Selene screamed. The final seals cracked, revealing betrayal, war, forced separation, and the ritual that buried her wolf. She felt bitter liquid forced between a child’s lips and heard strangers discuss whether suppressed Alpha blood could later be controlled. Lyla merged more closely with the ancestral presence, releasing power neither had been able to access alone.
“I was not abandoned!” Selene’s voice carried through the door. Cracks spread along the corridor ceiling, and dust fell across Jackson’s shoulders. The words condemned every person who had taught her she was unwanted.
Alexander’s wolf strained toward her. “Her power is overflowing faster than she can contain it.” Jackson insisted the mate bond allowed him to calm her, but even his wolf knew their connection had become unstable under years of rejection.
“If you force yourself into her mind, you may make it worse,” Alexander said. Jackson hated the warning because it was true. He could feel Selene’s pain, but he no longer knew how to reach her through it.
The woman inside the infirmary was no longer only a newly awakened mate. She carried an ancient royal inheritance and the fury of a bloodline nearly erased. Her power answered neither Blood Moon rank nor Nightwind strength; it rose from a sovereignty both packs had overlooked. No Alpha command could make that power small again.
The door exploded outward. Silver light flooded the hallway, forcing guards to shield their faces. Selene stepped through the ruined frame with one half of her presence calm and human, the other old, royal, and unforgiving.
Her gaze passed over Jackson and Alexander before stopping on Ethel. Silence descended as the ancestral current recognized its living blood. Every feature that had seemed merely familiar now aligned with the child in his memory. Ethel fell to his knees, tears escaping without shame while his wolf released a broken sound of recognition.
“My daughter.” The words reached Selene through every layer of memory. She tilted her head, caught between the stranger before her and the younger father shouting for her to run.
